A boy is punished for putting a kitten and dog inside a piano and thereby ruining his parents' attempts at music making. With his chemistry set he devises a powder which turns black on contact, and an exploding egg. The powder he conceals in a bunch of flowers, which blackens his mother's face, to the amusement of the father. The latter, however, is in turn blown through the wall when he attempts to eat his breakfast egg. The boy watches with evident delight through a telescope as his father somersaults through the air and lands in a chicken coop, to be chased by an irate farmer with shotgun.
