Views of the sea taken from the stern of a ship.

Show full synopsis

Filmed from the stern of a moving ship, this one-shot actuality presents a mesmerising view of the sea. What at first appears to be a rather innocent film soon transforms into a pleasantly hypnotic experience. The movement of the camera on the water mirrors the visibly shifting waves and embeds the film with a genuinely delicate motion. It has also been thoughtfully composed, with the sun appearing and disappearing through the clouds and glistening upon the water.

Although the single-shot form was a stylistic standard before the emergence of editing, this film really benefits from its extended shot length, forcing us to fix our stare upon, and lose ourselves in, the subtly shifting image.
