Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

A view from the front of a train as it passes Wormit in Fife, the station platform empty but for one conductor. The train passes the signal room at the end of the platform, on the steps of which stand two more conductors. With the sea in the distance, the train turns onto the Tay Bridge, which stretches out into the distance. A train travelling in the opposite direction passes by. Suddenly rail workers appear on the tracks. Many are standing up against the bridge's barriers, out of the way of the train.

The train travels through the covered section of the bridge. At the end of this 'tunnel' is a circle of white daylight. On an open section of the bridge, there are again men on the track. Another train heads in the opposite direction. The train approaches the platform of a station but does not stop. Beyond the station the train enters a depot.
