Mining Review 20/10: Conversion (1967)

Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

The commentary doubles as a synopsis, and is reproduced in full below:

There are still plenty of big old Victorian houses on the market. Ideal for family living, if only they could be brought up to modern standards.

Alexis is a lucky little girl, because her parents have decided to take the plunge and really convert this house from attic to basement. Of course, the whole place had to be redecorated, but they tore out all the antiquated fittings from bathrooms and kitchens and decided to bring the whole heating system bang up to date.

The whole job was surprisingly quick. In under four months, Alexis was able to move into a house she couldn't recognise from when she first saw it. Modern solid fuel appliances look after all the heating load, efficiently, unobtrusively and economically. Alexis, her family and her pets are now enjoying the space and comfort of a nineteenth-century house but with all the twentieth-century advantages of warm, clean modern living.
