Synopsis

Shot of the bust of Carl Jung in Mathew Street, with Jung's quote 'Liverpool is the pool of life'. An overhead view of Williamson Square, shot from St John's Beacon tower, is followed by everyday scenes of social activity taking place in the square. These include: street musicians performing, artists and street vendors, an elderly women on a podium delivering a speech or sermon, a homeless man, newspaper vendors, a woman conducting a survey, market stallholder selling fruit and vegetables, a Salvation Army band performing, a performance of Codman's Punch and Judy show to a group of children, a Christian preacher, children playing on an escalator, an environmental campaigner, a political activist, an amateur filmmaker in conversation, elderly people on benches. Shots of the Liverpool Playhouse theatre and other buildings in and around the Square are visible throughout the film. The film ends with another shot of the bust of Carl Jung.
