Shot at the intersection of Holy Corner in Liverpool, this the street is a hive of people and traffic. Arguably during the first part of this century most trade was being conducted on the streets. When this was being filmed Liverpool had become a wealthy city, and the shop fronts are filled with items for sale. This is one of the few films shot by the pioneering film partnership of Sagar Mitchell and James Kenyon to feature a motor car, at the time a significant symbol of wealth and prosperity. It is possible that one of the passengers seen in the car is Sagar Mitchell himself, and the film would have been seen as great advertising not only for the vehicle and its seller, but for all the shops of Liverpool. Two rolls of film were used to make up this one film and it would have proved of great interest to local people, many of whom will have paid the considerable sum of two shillings in the hope of seeing a glimpse of themselves on film.
