Super-8mm film images, shot along the southeast coast, show a mongrel dog, Ben, being walked by his owner.

Now aged 39 in dog years, Ben reflects on the relationship with his owner and discusses their differences, especially over his castration as a puppy. He regrets the neglect and general boredom of being a dog, questioning the depth of his love for his owner. But when Ben almost drowns and his owner rushes into the sea to save him, Ben cannot help but respond with love.
