A woman puts her children to bed. She tells her husband that they have been asking questions, and he advises telling them the truth. He tells her of his early searches among the cabbages, and his difficulties during adolescence.
The parents resolve that their children should not suffer the same embarrassments, and when the children ask questions again, they begin to explain the facts of life. The younger child loses interest after he has been told the truth.
At school, the children learn by keeping rabbits and biology lessons. Their father explains the function of the male cells. Later in life, one of the boys feels sympathy for an older man who limps. His father tells him about venereal diseases.
