Cup holders Newcastle defend the trophy against Bradford City in the replayed 1911 Football Association Cup Final at Manchester's Old Trafford.

Show full synopsis

The 1911 Football Association cup final saw Bradford City take on holders Newcastle United at Crystal Palace on 22 April, and finished in a 0-0 draw. The replay followed four days later at Old Trafford on 26 April and was won by Bradford 1-0, with the single goal scored by Jimmy Speirs. The crowd was 58,000 strong, packed in to the newly built Manchester stadium.

The entrance of the two teams is filmed head on and highlights from rest of the match are filmed at an angle from the edge of the pitch. The filming is lively and a considerable improvement on the earliest football films such as those of Mitchell and Kenyon, demonstrating the increasing professionalisation of the newsreel business even in its earliest years.
