The British public is urged to grow their own vegetables at a time of war shortages.

Show full synopsis

In order to boost British domestic food production, the Ministry of Agriculture launched a major publicity campaign, 'Dig For Victory', to encourage people to grow their own vegetables in gardens and allotments.

Cartoons, such as this one from animators Halas and Batchelor, were particularly useful in enabling statistics to be explained in a graphic, more accessible form for the general audience.
