The cruel Emperor Two-Chinned Chow, of the land of Ping Pong, has three daughters. His favourite, Sing Song, is kept in a palace surrounded by a high wall. Three brothers, Pee, Ping and Tom, who dare to look at the princess are sentenced to death and beheaded. A musician, Long Lung, attracted to the palace by tales of Sing Song's beauty, serenades the princess in her garden with his flute.
Long Lung is imprisoned, but the princess, enchanted by his music, is most distressed and falls ill. When the court physician fails to find a remedy for her affliction, the Emperor consults the astrologer, Hoo Kan See, about the reason for Sing Song's decline. They both look through the telescope and see an image of the flute player playing behind bars in prison. The Emperor summons him and he and the princess fondly kiss.
