A newspaper features an advertisement for Bovril. We see that this is being read by young Willy through his grandmother's reading glass, while she darns socks.

Willy removes the back of a watch and examines its innards, which are shown in close-up.

He then examines her pet bird in its cage, followed by his grandmother's eye, and her cat, which escapes.

Willy then starts to examine grandmother's darning, but she takes the reading glass away from him.
