Show full synopsis

Known at the time as 'Britain's favourite Canadian', Toronto-born Carroll Levis (1910-68) was a BBC presenter best known for spotting new talent and giving it an early platform in radio and later television variety programmes.

He's shown here introducing former miners and descendants of miners in a rendition of 'The Miner's Song' ("We sing our song as we trudge along / There's nothing finer than a song to a miner / So sing! Sing! Sing a miner's song!"), sung by James Ovington and arranged by Hal Evans, who also conducts.
