Making Christmas Crackers (1910)

Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

A girl sews together a string of Christmas stockings on a treddle sewing machine. Tum-tums (the card centres of the crackers) are made on another machine, also operated by a woman. Various processes are shown: preparing the paper for the body of the cracker; cutting out, glueing and folding paper hats; making the crackers and packing them in boxes.

In a family house, several children dance around a Christmas tree. They are given a large cracker from the top of the tree by their father, and they pull it together. Father Christmas emerges from the cracker and distributes presents.
