The Derby, June 4 1913. People arrive in motor cars - one breaks down and has to be pushed along. Omnibuses and horse-drawn carriages are also used, one of which drives past a gypsy encampment and pays a brief visit to a gypsy trader's stall.
Horses and riders are led onto the course. Horses gallop past the crowded grandstand prior to the race. The race begins. Suffragette Emily Davison runs through the horses and stands in front of the King's horse 'Anmer', which knocks her down. The horses ride on and a large crowd rushes to the scene where Davison, horse and jockey lie on the ground.
The race finishes and the winner, 'Craganour', is led to his stable.
