Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

A long line of children, girls in hats, boys in cloth caps, proceeds along a grassy verge in Epping Forest. They are lined by a group of mostly female teachers, dressed up for the occasion. A small boy plays cricket, with one of the teachers as wicket-keeper - he misses the ball and she fails to catch it and has to run after it. A second attempt is equally unsuccessful, but this time the ball is retrieved by one of the other teachers acting as fielder. Some of the children ride donkeys, which are pulled by the teachers. They pose in a group for a photograph.
