King George V and Queen Mary visit the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley

Show full synopsis

The British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924 gave the nation an opportunity to visit the Empire in miniature. Here the Topical Budget camera is able to take us through Burma, Fiji, Canada and India, in the form of their exhibition pavilions. King George V and Queen Mary are therefore able to visit all of their domains. In an age of exhibitions and world's fairs, this was one of the most spectacular, a celebration of Empire, with an unwritten message to its constituent partners that their future was best served by remaining under British rule.
