At a boys' secondary school in London, pupils enter the school and take part in various lessons: science, art (drawing pictures of planes and bombs), woodwork, geography, gym and exams.
Many schoolchildren were evacuated to the country at the beginning of the war. Secondary schoolgirls sit un the grounds of a country school, drawing the village church, going on a nature history walk, examining specimens in the laboratory, having a French lesson, practising typing, playing games in the grounds, helping to convert a country house into a workable school, making blankets and curtains, studying cookery, and practising running to the air shelters. Finally, they sit down to dinner.
