| This is the first extant Pimple comedy and the second title in the series,
released in November 1912, after Fred Evans had left behind Cricks & Martin
and his previous character, Charley Smiler. A simple chase comedy with Fred
Evans as Pimple, a character of childlike simplicity with a slightly mischievous
streak. He wears a check jacket, baggy, (almost) matching trousers and a cap, but, in this case, a more subtle application of his usual clown make-up. In this one-reel comedy, Pimple pursues an escaped African Black snake, but disastrously confuses it with a woman's black feather boa. Bryony Dixon |
