This was one of many local authority sponsored films produced and marketed by Films of Scotland. The municipalities used film as one element in their marketing of their areas to potential inward investors and new employers. The attractions of the area as places to live and work for both workers and their families were highlighted
The Clyde coastal resorts were popular holiday destinations for folk from the industrial towns in the west of Scotland,
particularly during the two week holiday known as the Glasgow Fair. Families would flock to the fresh air and freedom of the seaside. This film provides good primary evidence of this summer exodus, with Ettrick Bay on the Isle of Bute
proving a perennial favourite. It is nteresting to contrast this with scenes at Ettrick Bay in 1910 in Glasgow and the Clyde Coast.
