Show full synopsis

Like bowler hats and rag-and-bone-men, thick fog on London's streets seems to be a dim memory of a bygone age, thanks in part to a succession of Clean Air Acts in the latter half of the 20th Century. But fog in the capital was once an all too familiar sight, as readers of Dickens or of Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories will confirm. Here, Topical Budget does its best to make light of the gloom. The crossword theme carries into the next item in that week's newsreel, Fog, Of Course.
