A girl, perhaps on her birthday, lives out her subconscious passions. A flamboyant and surreal concoction of dance sequences, on the themes of flirtation and solitude. Show full synopsis

Independent cineaste Enrico Cocozza had
a taste for the flamboyant and unusual. Masquerade (1953) is a good example of
his oeuvre, with typically dream-like or surreal scenes. His films often had an
existentialist and/or nightmarish bent, even in his lighter-hearted 'comedies'.
Whatever you think of his films, it is undeniable that Cocozza's work was
unique among his contemporaries on the amateur scene, and was regarded as
controversial in its day and attracted critical acclaim from professional
observers.
