Peter Greenaway was teaching his children the alphabet and, as an exercise, began thinking of all the possible words that begin with the letter H. H is for House (1976) plays with the absurdity of the idea of the alphabet as an index used for organising information. The result is somewhat like a children's picturebook of the letter H, though with a witty secondary adult message, illustrated with images of Greenaway's country home and young family.
