Costume designer James Acheson (born in Leicester in 1946) has worked on a range of high-profile films since 1980, including the surrealities of Time Bandits (d. Terry Gilliam, 1981), Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (d. Terry Jones, 1983) and Brazil (d. Gilliam, 1985) and international period pieces such as The Last Emperor (China/Italy, d. Bernardo Bertolucci, 1987) and Dangerous Liaisons (US, d. Stephen Frears, 1988), winning Oscars for both, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (UK/US, d.
