Olivia Hussey had made two films before and 30-odd films and TV appearances since, but she remains firmly associated with Zeffirelli's 1968 Romeo and Juliet (UK/Italy), famously playing the tragic teenage lover at almost the right age. She and Leonard Whiting brought a poignant youth and beauty to their roles that more than compensated for lack of experience. Hussey had substantial supporting roles in Death on the Nile (d. John Guillermin, 1978) and The Cat and the Canary (d. Radley Metzger, 1979), but the Juliet legend persisted in the public mind; certainly, a dreadful film such as the Lost Horizon (US, d. Charles Jarrott, 1973) remake would not dislodge it. Her second husband (of 4) was US actor Dean Paul Martin. Brian McFarlane, Encyclopedia of British Film
