Writer

Tonbridge - and (briefly) Oxford-educated David Sherwin is famous for three screenplays he wrote for Lindsay Anderson: If... (1968, BAFTA-nominated), O Lucky Man! (1973) and Britannia Hospital (1982), films whose stature grows with the years and which evolved from a very creative, often rancorous association. If...grew out of Crusaders, an earlier screenplay Sherwin had written with former school-fellow, John Howlett. Sherwin has written brilliantly about all of this and more in Going Mad in Hollywood... And Life with Lindsay Anderson (1996).
