Audience and critical reception

Although Ken Loach is one of the UK's most prolific and influential directors, his films have not always received the same recognition in Britain as they have abroad, particularly in Europe. In this short video, film historian John Hill discusses why Loach has been feted more abroad than at home. Screenwriter Paul Laverty also explains why he doesn't write with an audience in mind, while Rebecca O'Brien, Loach's long-time producer, discusses the audiences that the director's films have attracted and built up over the years.
