Episode 3: 'Maybe He'll Bring Back a Geisha', tx. 7/8/1978
Frank Ross's son Paul returns home drunk, has an argument with his guardian Keith, and the next morning runs off to play truant with his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Ross visits Lou Wilson and Eddie to find out where Billy Binns is hiding. They arrange for him to meet Billy's girlfriend Alison and, once Ross has lost his police tail, she takes him to see Billy. He is delighted to see Ross, and explains that since leaving prison he has had to work for Wilson, as the manor is controlled by the rival firms run by Wilson and Tony McGrath.
Ross and Billy contemplate who betrayed them about the bank job. Billy remembers a woman named Cimmie Vincent in the public dock at the trial, and that he was later told that she was close to Ralph, another member of the bank job crew. Shortly after this, she left the area. Ross is concerned by this news. After Ross leaves Billy, he finds that the police are waiting for him by his car. They take him to see DI Brice, who was responsible for his arrest, and the two men exchange insults.
Paul lies to his girlfriend and tells her that his dad is in Japan and his mum is dead, and their mood is broken when she asks for more details about his parents. Ross visits Keith and Lucy, but Lucy tells him that they are not happy to see him and that Paul has a behaviour problem. Ross agrees to do anything they want him to do, including not seeing Paul.
Billy manages to escape the police after they are told of his location by Eddie. Later, Billy finds Eddie, who convinces him that Ross is the culprit. Meanwhile, Paul is involved in a car crash in which his girlfriend is badly injured. During a subsequent argument with Keith he discovers that Ross is out of prison. When Keith calls him, Ross agrees to come over.
On his way he is held at gunpoint by Billy, but Ross talks him round, and together they go after Eddie. They confront him in Wilson's warehouse, and as Eddie attempts to escape he and the pursuing Billy plunge through the roof of the warehouse. Billy is still alive, and Ross calls an ambulance as he flees the scene. He arrives, shaken, at Keith and Lucy's place, and looks in on the sleeping Paul.
