The Grovers agree to resolve their long-running dispute with local rival
youth club Denton Burn with a paintball match.
Debbie Dobson is now regretting letting PJ seduce her into having sex for the
first time. She and Amanda Bewick realise that PJ tried the same trick on them
both and the girls now collude to get their own back.
Patsy's Christian fish symbol brooch is missing - it is very important to
Patsy and her beliefs. In fact Amanda's brother Marcus has exchanged it at a
pawn shop for money. He returns to Lou's to discover his estranged mother has
come from London to visit; he runs to his room and cries. He is later consoled
by his sister.
Debbie's younger sister Jemma has worked out what happened between Debbie and
PJ and calls Debbie 'easy'. Debbie's mum demands to know what is going on.
Debbie confides in her mother about PJ's seduction.
Patsy prays for the return of her missing brooch. Meanwhile Marcus gets it
back, exchanging it for one of his framed astronomy prints. He hides the brooch
among some tapes, where Patsy soon finds it.
PJ and Duncan look over the castle ruins site of tomorrow's paintball game.
PJ is worried the guns seem quite powerful and asks Duncan if it will be OK.
That night Patsy wakes with a start after a nightmare about tomorrow's paintball
match; she's sure something bad will happen and the brooch going missing was a
sign.
The next day Patsy and Geoff are alone at the Grove. Geoff is furious when he
finds out the kids have gone to the secret paintball game. Amanda and Debbie,
despite their earlier stance, are in attendance at the castle. The game begins,
with blue and grey boiler-suited figures pursuing each other across the site and
yellow and red paint splattering everywhere. All players must wear masks and
goggles to prevent injury.
Seeing his friend Noddy about to be shot in the back by a Burner, PJ whips
off his mask to shout a warning but as he does so Amanda and Debbie open fire on
him. He spins round and yellow paint blasts him in the eyes. PJ falls to the
ground screaming. Geoff has raced to the scene but too late to prevent disaster.
Duncan, in tears, races to call an ambulance.
